The owl, a persistent metaphor in the "Times of Iron" body of work, watches, overshadows, and wraps around a man asleep. In the subconscious, hidden truths, self-denial, and that dark side co-exist to remind the conscious of truths yet to surface. A rough finished wing entraps the image. The retablo is a chamber, a cell, a prison of sorts designed to house what cannot exist in that outer world of social graces, employed professionalism, and outward appearances.
